Abstract: One of the most important applications of the theory of structural dynamics is analyzing the response of the structures to earthquakes and winds. The analytical solutions of the equation of motion for Multi-Degree of Freedom System is always a challenging job for any structural engineers. The analysis becomes much more difficult when unconventional structures such as Zip-Line towers are subjected to huge lateral loading along with the wind or earthquake excitation. Present study focuses on dynamic analysis of a Zip line tower in Kochi Kerala subjected to wind and earthquake loading. For purpose of analysis, Non-linear time history method of dynamic analysis will be used in CSI ETABS 2015. In addition to this, dynamic analysis of tower will also be done by providing Visco-Elastic dampers at various locations to reduce vibrations in the structure. At the end, optimum locations of the dampers will be determined by trial and error method.
