dc.description.abstract | In today’s competitive era efficiency means a lot therefore to optimize the cooling system we worked on various parameters that will make it more effective and optimum. In WDG-3A Loco Engine the cooling system employed is making use of Right angle Gearbox (RAGB) and Eddy current clutch (ECC) to drive Radiator Fan, these auxiliaries consumes a large amount of Engine Brake Horse Power for their operation. If this horse power is saved then it can be utilized for many other applications such as hauling of extra bogies thereby reducing brake specific fuel consumption. To achieve this we recommended Central Railway Locomotive Workshop, Parel to employ electrical system for driving radiator fan instead of using auxiliaries such as RAGB and ECC. This report focusses on the amount of horse power saved by deploying electrical system comparatively to the existing Mechanical System | en_US |
