Abstract: Measurement of flow rate is an essential requirement of process Industry. There are many methods which are employed for flow measurement based on the requirements. The most commonly used device for low viscosity, transparent fluids are Glass Tube Rotameter (GTR). The principle of operation for a GTR is based on the mechanical force balance between the weight of the float and the magnitude of flow rate. The current work aims at converting the GTR into a digital device using the halleffct sensor (turbine flow meter). halleffect sensor will be connected at the inlet of the rotameter & its reading will be calibrated according to the rotameter reading. Hall effect flow sensor consists of a plastic valve from which water can pass. A water rotor along with a hall effect sensor is present the sense and measure the water flow. When water flows through the valve it rotates the rotor. By this, the change can be observed in the speed of the motor. This change is calculated as output as a pulse signal by the hall effect sensor. Thus, the rate of flow of water can be measured. The output reading of halleffect sensor will be shown at lcd display.
