Abstract: | Augmented Reality (AR) is an interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that reside in the real world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory and olfactory. LATHE MACHINE is a machine tool that rotates a workpiece about an axis of rotation to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, deformation, facing, and turning, with tools that are applied to the workpiece to create an object with symmetry about that axis. In our project we have developed an application in which we have made use of AUGMENTED REALITY technology to help students learn LATHE Machine anytime time anywhere without physically having that machine with them. As the student coming from first year to second year and they are totally unaware of lathe machine and its operations. In order to make students familiar to lathe operations, This APP will help student to relate with lathe machines and its operations virtually .Only the thing required is an android phone and the application that we have developed. First the student will have to choose from the different operations provided in the application which he/she wants to learn. Application will then detect the ground plane and a LATHE Machine will be superimposed over the real-life ground displayed on the mobile device. Then the students can learn how to perform different operations. Besides this hand on can also be played by the students in the application but that will not be on AR mode but will be in 3D console mode. Keywords : Augmented Reality, Lathe Machine |
