CD Contents
------------------------

This CD contains an autorun feature that automatically installs National
Instruments HiQ 4.1 on your computer if it is not already installed. To browse
the contents of this CD, right-click on the CDROM drive in the Windows Explorer
and choose Open. This CD contains the following items:

Chapter Equations - Folder containing chapter equation references in Adobe
                    Acrobat format
HiQ - Folder containing the installation files for National Instruments HiQ
Machine Design Example - Folder containing an example problem from the book
autorun.inf - Enables the autorun feature of the CD
readme.txt - This file
serialnumber.txt - Contains the serial number to use when installing HiQ
setup.exe - Automatically installs HiQ if it is not already installed

This CD automatically installs HiQ on your computer if it is not already
installed and you have autorun enabled on your computer. If you do not have
autorun enabled, double-click on the setup.exe file on this CD.

The online product registration option in the installer does not currently
work. To register your product online, browse to the following URL.

* Windows 2000/NT 4.0/98/95
* IBM compatible computer with 486 processor and coprocessor
* 8MB RAM for Windows 95, 16MB RAM for Windows 2000/NT 4.0/98
* 256-color 800x600 VGA display adapter
* 40MB free disk space

Read the HiQ Release and Upgrade Notes for important information about this
release, including detailed information about new and modified features in HiQ
4.1. This document is available from the Windows Start menu.

Chapter Equations
------------------------
The equations referenced in each chapter of the book are contained in Adobe
Acrobat files in this folder. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to
view these files. You can install the Acrobat Reader by double-clicking on the
setup.exe file and choosing Acrobat when prompted.

Machine Design Example
------------------------
Sample 7-4 in the book has been implemented as a HiQ Notebook that you can
interact with. This sample investigates the torsional impact of a grinder shaft
when the grinder wheel is stopped suddenly. You can change the dimensions of the
problem on page 3 of the Notebook to see how the shaft stress and deflection
are affected for changing shaft radius and rpm.
