Abstract:
The main aim of the project is to control home applications remotely by using Android-OS-based smart phone. This is an advanced technology in the home automation. Usually conventional wall switches are located in different corners of a house and, thus necessitate the need of manual operations like pressing to turn the loads on or off. It becomes very difficult for the elderly or physically handicapped people to operate them. Thus, the proposed system is enhanced to control home applications through an Android-based application of smart phones or tables that offers the provision for entering the selected numbers for operating the corresponding load. This proposed system works with an 8051 microcontroller and a rectified power supply. A Bluetooth is interfaced to the microcontroller using Rx and Tx pins for communication. Once an owner connects an Android application device to this system through a Bluetooth, then the owner can send the control signals through the Bluetooth. The owner can also enter the selected option on the Android application through the GUI for corresponding loads, and the data is sent to the microcontroller. The received data is compared with the stored data in the microcontroller and, if it matches, then the microcontroller performs the corresponding operation for controlling loads.
