Abstract:
The textile industry is one of the very important industries in India. After China, India is the largest exporting and manufacturing country in the world. India shares 5 % of the global trade in textile industry and clothing. Powerlooms units on a small scale are the largest source of employment for millions of people in semi urban and rural areas and have a contribution of more than 75% of total textile production in the country. There are few major textile hubs in India which include Surat, Malegaon ,Bhiwandi ,Tirupur , Ludhiyana ,Varanasi etc.
Textile Industry is one of the important sectors because of which Bhiwandi is renowned in India and the whole economy is run by the industry and has the largest number of power looms in the country. which is now resulting as a cause for disorganized/unplanned mix use. Since the last few years, It has been noticed that the industry is suffering from a lot of problems due to which it is not in its best possible condition. Due to these problems, the economic condition of the city is in a bad shape.
This research attempts to study mixed use areas which have layers of the textile industry, involving various methods such as interviewing the user, mapping, documentation, open sources etc ; and rethink possibilities to develop it as an Industrial cluster which is a habitable model for Development of the city.
